The Wrong Kingdom - A Palm Sunday Mistake

Devotional Reading:
Mark 11:7-9
And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed were shouting,“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!”

Devotional Question:
Which kingdom did the people trust in? Kingdom of God? Or kingdom of David? If you have heard the rest of the Easter story... we see how quickly the people turn on Jesus as their King and demand his life be taken.

Did You Know?

The word "Hosanna" means quite literally "Save, please!" It is urgent. This is a plea for salvation. But what did the crowds of people want restored? Sadly, they appear concerned about the kingdom of their father David. Jesus teaches over and over about the kingdom of his Father - God! This kingdom is the kingdom of heaven... and the kingdom of God!
